We often ask ourselves, why does he make it so complicated for himself? Because that’s the way Cat does it and the way it should be done. He is constantly getting inspired by old sailor knots and clasping devices that he can’t stop trying to apply them to his jewelry. We like the obsession with his craft from hand-braiding many of his ropes to hand sand casting all of his pendants, clasps, and rings right here in Maine. We’ve tried carrying other jewelry brands in the past, but they have all lost to the craftsmanship of Cat Bates.
